In The Classroom ...
An activity like a digital scavenger hunt is one that could relate to other subject areas such as math, specifically geometry where students study shapes and their relation to one another. With this activity, students have to opportunity to explore their environment to find how geometry relates to real life. A scavenger hunt is authentic learning experience for students and can be used as a type of assessment, whether formal or informal, the teacher is able to watch students and see where they are in their learning. This scavenger hunt could also be used in language arts where students can take pictures of things that remind them the story that the class just read together and come back to class to discuss these visual snapshots of their interpretation of the text. Lastly, in the science classroom, students could be sent out into the world on a mission to find and take pictures of different land forms, types of trees, clouds, animals, etc. to reinforce their learning and go beyond a power point presentation. This activity is a fun way for students to get hands on with their learning and discover new things in all subject areas of the classroom.
